Black Preaching Network

A few Sundays ago,I had the opportunity to speak at the morning service of a local
pastor friend. As I walked up to the pulpit I noticed that he and his other male
associates were all made up. I understand that they are doing a television broadcast
but these guys looked like Little Richard. It really made me feel uncomfortable.
What does the bible say about men wearing make up? I would like opinions as well
as scripture.

It is not a matter of being "a dandy". Studio lights are much different than lighting in our homes or churches. The camera is also not as friendly to some. The makeup is used to counter act with the lights, angles ,etc. to help people look their best. But if someone did not want to wear it, they would not make them. How one chooses to carrying themselves( with or without makeup) in their personal life is their choice. I think you are saying why is it ok for men to wear makeup on tv and normally it is not. Right? But it's for the camera nothing more.
I agree Bro. Luckett. As a former acess cable television Producer/Director I see your point. When I see Dr.Clifton Davis on tv on "Praise the Lord" as a host for example, fine but when not on before cameras and hot lights that's another thing andsomething isn't really right with that picture.

I just wanted to say that the comment that "this is a stupid thread" was uncalled for. She asked about something that concerned her and if you didn't like it you didn't have to respond, move on to the next post. That's a good example of why new converts are scared to asked questions because someone like yourself will just cut them to pieces and all they are looking for is insight. Dang!!!!

I don't cut anyone into pieces. I put down false teaching, period. If the best she could think of is asking about is make-up on a Preacher, then I feel for the sister. I don't mean to offend, but let's use some common sense.

Common sense would have to been to move on and not comment at all. There was no teaching here to put down. Everything that is stuck in your head is not meant to come out of your mouth. I feel for you, for I have noticed this on other post. I have also noticed that your post may not be getting as much of a response as you would like, because even there you try to bait people into responding. Who made you judge of what is proper for someone to inquire about on a public and free forum? If you want to know something, you ask! I appreciate people like Min. Watson, Green, Evang. Fugett, and several others who take the time to respond to questions with respect and insight. On a forum like this everyone is not on the same level spiritually or in knowledge and may come looking for more insight, so as you said, let's use some common sense!

Thank you my sister. You said everything I wanted to say perfectly. God bless you.

You are welcome. This was addressed on another post Hez started called "Don't be afraid to post". He actually apologized there. I wondered if he will be big if to do it here, to you. Many blessing you to Evangelist Walton.

Actually Evangelist Walton, you brought up a subject that is address loosely in scripture, in Deut. 22:5 men are not to wear those things that pertaineth to a women and women should not wear those things that pertain to man.

Of course this scripture is speaking of clothing, but a deeper meaning can be discern from it, liers cannot enter the kingdom, transvestites are displaying a lie.

The spirit behind these issues must be address, now the ministers that you saw more than likely had pure motives, however, as we women know, the best applied make-up is not visible, but the goal is to look natural. You saw that which was unnatural, and it made you unccomfortable, do not apologize. Just pray

Thank you tricia. You said what I was trying to say, in reference to the camera angles, lights, the camera not being friendly to some.

Bro Luckette, I got what you were saying....I know its for the sake of the camera.
And thanks Tricia for reiterating what he said.

I just think if its fancy off camera - it's fancy on camera.
If one is going to give room for those before a camera then give room to those that have to deal with people in the flesh.

Amen newview that's heavy. You should expound on giving room for those that have to deal with people in the flesh.

"...Amen newview that's heavy. You should expound on giving room for those that have to deal with people in the flesh..."

Oh my! Hahahaha...that was deep.
Because I just re-read what I posted and that wasnt exactly what I meant.
What I should have wrote is:
If one is going to give room for those before a camera then give room to those that have to deal with people in person.

But I think I like what I posted by accident. Hahahah.
Boy I am deep without trying...LOL!
